Onigilly - Spicy Shrimp

I think I may have found a new favorite Onigilly snack. After taking one bite of the Spicy Shrimp I was in love. I didn't think anything could top the Miso Tuna, and I am still waiting to try the Salmon, but for now, the Spicy Shrimp tops my list.

For anyone reading my blog on a regular basis, you'll know I have mad love for Onigilly. I am hesitant to single out any food truck here in San Francisco as my favorite because they are all good, and each has something special, but I can say that whenever I go to Off the Grid Onigilly is usually my first stop. I don't even glance at the menus of the other trucks before stopping at Onigilly and choosing one of their three treats. It's like my admission ticket, so to speak.

Today I arrived solo, and before I even attempted to get in touch with my family I stopped at Onigilly to grab my snack. They also had chicken teriyaki on the menu, and  I was tempted to get both, but after a pretty big day of eating my hunger level wasn't as virulent as it could have been. So I squelched the urge to order two snacks and instead settled on the Spicy Shrimp, which I hadn't had before. I took my carton, snapped a few photos, and sat down to enjoy it.

The filling today was more than usual, so that added a nice bonus to my snack. In fact, it oozed out when I took my first bite, and I really got the full flavor of the shrimp. It's creamy, spicy, and is typical of the spicy shrimp (or tuna) in a sushi restaurant. There were lots of small shrimp, which gave it a nice texture, and the spiciness was enough to give it a kick. It was not so overwhelming, however, that it dulled my taste buds. It's really hard to eat just one of these treats! Even when I am full, I still desire more.
