Chairman Bao wants your votes to help them do it. Starting August 14, people can vote online or by text to send the San Francisco bun-slingers to the big show, which in this case is Season Three of Food Network's the Great Food Truck Race.
There are no food trucks from the Bay Area among the finalists of Season Two of the Great Food Truck Race. While five of the eight competitors to earn airtime starting this Sunday hail from California, none of the trucks seeking to win the $100,000 grand prize come from any farther north than Los Angeles. Spencer on the Go made it to week five of Season One of the show.
Incidentally, the show is hosted by Tyler Florence, who lives in Mill Valley and owns several restaurants plus a chain of luxury kitchen supply stores in our pocket of the state.
Aside from voting online, fans of steamed or baked bao can text FT027 to 66789. Standard text messaging rates apply, yadda yadda yadda. People are reporting that their text votes are being accepted right now, but it is unclear whether or not votes cast before August 14 will actually count. You can vote up to ten times a day from any combination of online or text votes.
Last year Chairman Bao finished in the top 50 for Season Two's eight finalist spots. Rumor has it that Season Three will expand to 10 finalists.
Season Two of the Great Food Truck Race on Food Network premieres Sunday, August 14 at 10pm (9pm Central, but we're not sure our readers really need to know that).
