Cooking Channel's Frozen Treat Truck Coming September 7

It is no secret that we do things a little differently in San Francisco. Summer months do not always equate to warm weather. We embrace progressive culture, free expression, alternate recreational activities and different definitions of family. So it comes as no surprise that when the Cooking Channel Frozen Treat Truck stops at the Ferry Plaza on September 7 from 11 AM until 2 PM, Fog City will get its chill on in a dairy-free way.

While other cities in the nationwide tour will feature ice cream from the truck, folks who line up for a mid-day snack when the truck comes to San Francisco will receive free Seascape Strawberry or Pistachio Sorbets courtesy of the Cooking Channel and Scream Sorbet in Oakland. And while sorbet often plays second fiddle to ice cream, Scream Sorbet is definitely no consolation prize. They make incredibly smooth, amazingly dense sorbet using a 2000 RPM Swiss-made Pacojet, a few fresh local ingredients and a whole lot of culinary ingenuity.

In addition to the frozen treat, guests will be able to meet Jeffrey Saad, graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and runner up of The Next Food Network Star Season 5. Saad makes his Cooking Channel debut as host of the show United Tastes of America.

The Frozen Treat Truck is in the middle of a 19 city tour of the United States, hooking up Cooking Channel fans with local gourmet summery snacks until it concludes on October 2 at the New York Wine & Food Festival. So grab a sweater for the San Francisco summer and stop by the Frozen Treat Truck for the best sorbet you've ever had. Because that's just how SF rolls.
